A holiday cottage near Walls, Shetland...

Ramna Vord is part of the tiny, three-house settlement of Huxter which is situated near Sandness on the west of mainland Shetland.

The house is 200 metres from a stony beach and one kilometre from a sandy beach...

...so you're never far away from your next jaw-dropping sunset.

Jamieson's spinning mill and wool shop is just a short walk away, too...

Based in Sandness, Jamieson's has specialised in knitted products made from the wool of the native Shetland sheep for 5 generations. They're world famous for their unique, patterned jumpers.

A stroll across the fields brings you to the famous Huxter Clack Mills...

Fed by the peaty stream flowing from the freshwater loch above, they date back to Norse times and were in regular use until the 1940's. You can also find the remains of an ancient broch and other evidence of pre-historic habitation.

Walks in the area...

Walks can be taken straight from the house offering dramatic and rugged views of natural arches, stacks and cliff top scenery. The area is a breeding area for arctic terns in May and June and wildlife, flowers and other seabirds are plentiful. You can hardly fail to take good photographs here!
